Summer 2018

posted Jul 8, 2018, 11:19 PM by Alvin Yen

Dear Parents,

Words can never express our appreciation towards the support throughout this past school year. THANK YOU all for allowing us to play our role as your child's early educator. It's always a joy to see them grow and shine in their own way.

We wrapped up the Curious George theme and visited Leo's Playland during the last week of June. As for the first two weeks of July, we will focus on the 2018 World Cup in Russia, along with fun games and activities and field trip with GDS Sports! The theme for the last two weeks of July will be "International Food Festival." Where our little ones will learn about various healthy food choices along with the culture behind them!

Below is the Principal's Note for July, along with useful tips and my monthly book recommendation. As always, feel free to email me ( if you have any questions!

Have a great summer, see you all in Fall!

Dear Parents and Friends,

Time is simply moving too fast. I couldn't believe that we are already half way through the month of April. I want to THANK You all once again for your support with this year's Day Program Reading Challenge. We ended up with a total of 3,034 books read (both home and school, all five classes)! Please continue all the reading fun with your child at home on a regular basis. It's a skill that they will forever cherish!

Below is the April's Day Program Principal's Note, along with my book of the month and useful tips for reading aloud. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

March 2018

posted Mar 4, 2018, 7:21 PM by Alvin Yen

Good day, Parents and Friends:

I hope you all had a wonderful time during this year's CNY holidays. When it comes to Chinese New Year, it's always about family. I had the opportunity to visit Tokyo with my family this year. Although it's not the first time, I've always enjoyed my visit to Japan, especially with both of my younger brothers. We don't get to see each other as often as we want to since both of them are currently in Los Angeles for work and school.

As we stepped into March, we are getting ready for another busy yet fun month ahead! As always, we start the month with our annual reading challenge! This year's theme is "Read Around the World," where the entire all the boys and girls will try to keep up their daily reading and aiming to read over 2,800 books by the end of the month! We read 2,862 books last year? Do you think we can go over that number? Let's wait and see!

Below is the Principal's Note, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

January-February 2018

posted Feb 9, 2018, 12:16 AM by Alvin Yen

Dear Parents:

I can't believe today is the last day of school before the CNY holidays! Both January and February just went by too fast! I hope you all had a good time during our potluck this past Tuesday. CNY is always about family. We opened a new half-day Reception Program in the Second Semester, and it's always a joy to see our little ones learning and adapting their schooling experience as a part of them!

To me, who had been working at Happy Kids for almost twelve years, Happy Kids is home, where we learn and shine together. I would like to take this chance to THANK ALL OF OUR PARENTS for the support over all these years! Remember, when we work together, our children will shine together!

Below is the Principal's Note for February. Keep in mind that Chinese New Year Holidays at Happy Kids goes from 2/12-2/23. Happy Kids will resume on Monday, 2/26.

Once again, wish you all a fantastic Year of the Dog! Happy Chinese New Year & Kung Hei Fat Choi!

December 2017

posted Dec 4, 2017, 12:19 AM by Alvin Yen

Dear Parents,

Before you know it, we have already stepped into the Holiday Season! What can be better than having Santa dropped by on the first day of the December for some photos? Our little ones had a good time meeting Santa, as well as getting ready for their performance at our Annual Christmas Concert! We just had our first rehearsal with the pianist today. One thing I can tell you is that I will get tired of seeing our children soaking in the Christmas Spirit and enjoying the whole process with their teachers and peers! Please join us on the 19th of December for this year's Day Program Christmas Concert, a celebration of joy and happiness, here at Happy Kids.

Below is this month's Principal's Note along with my book recommendation and some useful tips for language development. Also, please be mindful that Happy Kids will be closed between 12/25-12/29 for Christmas Holidays. Day Program will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd. Please don't hesitate to talk to me if you have any questions regarding our program.

Happy Holidays!

November 2017

posted Nov 12, 2017, 6:26 PM by Alvin Yen

Good day, Parents:

It's hard to imagine that we have already stepped into November!  October was a busy yet fun month. Thank you all for your participation in the Parent-Teacher conferences. Besides our communication through daily communication book, it's always good to sit and share our observation with each other in person. Also, I hope you all enjoyed your little one's Halloween Performance! It's one of those events that we all look forward to, and for some of our little ones, it's their very first time performing in front of a large group of audiences! Two thumbs up to all of our little ones!
November is just as exciting as any other month of the year! Besides all the fun themes and activities from our Day Program teachers, as a Happy Kids tradition, we will be serving a school-wide Thanksgiving Lunch on the 24th. All of our little ones (including friends from the half-day program) will be invited and have a traditional Thanksgiving feast with their teachers and friends! What a great time to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful things in our life!
Below is the Principal's Note for November. As you know, I am always around. Feel free to come to me if there's anything I can help you with. Together, we can continue to provide a safe and fun environment for our little ones to grow!

October 2017

posted Oct 1, 2017, 10:10 PM by Alvin Yen

Dear Parents:

September went by fast, and it's always a rewarding experience to see the growth of our little ones, little by little, one step at a time! Thank you for helping your child adjusting to the school schedule from home and allow them to have enough rest throughout the week.

Communication is always the key. Always feel free to write to your child's homeroom teacher regarding your child's progress. You can always write in the communication book or email them, whichever you find it convenient. Also, feel free to check out your child's class photo website, it will give you a better "picture" of what they did at school! Of course, you are always welcome to talk to me. Feel free to call me or email me anytime!

October is packed with various school activities. Please remember that there will be no classes on 10/18 (Teachers' Professional Development Day), and you will be meeting your child's homeroom teacher either on the 19th or the 20th for the Parent-Teacher conferences. The most exciting event of the month will be your little one's Halloween performance! Keep in mind that we will start our school-wide trick or treat between 9:15-9:30, so please be sure to have your child come to school before 9:00! Then we will start our Halloween performance at 9:30, the performance will be held in the recess room. Be sure to double-check your child's class schedule prior to your arrival.

Below is the Day Program Principal's note for October, where you will also find a copy in your child's communication book. As always, please don't hesitate to contact our admin staffs or me if you have any questions.

September 2017

posted Sep 7, 2017, 11:46 PM by Alvin Yen

Dear Parents:

The last two weeks of August went by so quickly, and we are already down with the first week of September! Still, after all these years, It's always a joy to see all of our little ones taking their time and adjusting to the new classroom and routines. Seeing them smile at each other, learning to share and take turns with each other, on top of that, learning to be who they want to be, is pure joy to all of us here. I also want to thank all our parents, for all your support from home, which makes this whole transition so much smoother.  and take turns with each other, on top of that, learning to be who they want to be, is pure joy to all of us here. I also want to thank all our parents, for all your support from home, which makes this whole transition so much smoother.

Our Day Program Open House will be the 19th of September, between 6:00 to 6:30. It is an excellent opportunity for you to get to know what the teachers had been doing in the classroom. Regarding how they run their center time, why they run it this way, and what are they expecting to achieve with these centers. They will also be sharing what you can do at home to help to strengthen and connect the learning experience from home. I look forward seeing you all again!

Below is the Principal's note for September. I pick a book (where we usually have more than a copy in our library) as my book of the month. If you are interested in my book selection, please don't hesitate to contact me, I would be more than happy to share my list with you!

August 2017

Dear Parents:

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer with your little ones! It seems to be a fairly hot summer this year, yet I never get tired of the sun, reminded me of my good old sunny California.

I would also like to thank you all for coming to the Parent/Children Visitationthis morning! To the returning parent/children, it is always a joy to see you back again! And to our new parents, welcome to the Happy Kids family!

Regardless you are returning or new to Happy Kids; there are still some adjustments to make. New classroom setup, new daily schedule, new things to learn! Yet we can't achieve anything with your kind support from home. Clear communication between school and home is essential, so please do not hesitant to contact your child's homeroom teacher (or me) if you have any questions!

Below is the Principal's Note for August, packed with my book of the month, as well as useful parent tips. I look forward to another fantastic year with you all!

Summer 2017

Happy Summer, Parents!

How are you doing this summer? Perhaps due to its low-lying geographical feature, Summer heat in Taipei City can be fairly intense! Regardless the heat, I do hope that you are enjoying your time with your little ones while they are having fun with us here at Happy Kids.
The upcoming theme for July Day Program Summer Camp is "A Colorful World." Colors play a big role in early childhood development, and it is everywhere indeed! Be sure to check out your child's monthly calendar from their teachers to find out more fun activities we offer this July!

Below is the Principal's Note for the Month of July and August. Keep in mind that the last day of Summer Camp will be 7/28. And Fall Semester starts on 8/21 with Parent/Child Visitation Day! As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding our program!

Have a great summer!
